1. The Captain of the Port New Orleans is issuing a safety advisory for the waters of the Lower Mississippi River from Mile Marker (MM) 231.8 to MM 232.8 Above Head of Passes (AHP). This advisory is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with the salvage and removal of a sunken barge occurring on the right descending bank of the River near MM 232.3. The operation will be conducted 24 hours a day, beginning on June 12, 2023 at 0700 until salvage operations are complete.
2. Mariners are urged to transit at slowest safe speed to minimize wake at MM 231.8 to MM 232.8.
3. The M/V Andy McKinney is the on-scene point of contact and can be contacted via VHF Ch. 67 and 87.
