Subtropical Depression Five
Subtropical Depression Five is located 1015 miles west of the Azores. Some strengthening is expected. The system is likely to become a subtropical or tropical storm. It is expected to track to the northeast. By Friday and into the weekend, it will lose its tropical characteristics and accelerate into the far northern North Atlantic. It is no threat to land. It is not a significant shipping threat. Please see our latest advisory.

Other Disturbances / Areas to Watch
Disturbance 25 is along 58W. It is moving to the west at 10 mph. This motion should continue. The disturbance is likely to bring enhanced rainfall to portions of the Lesser Antilles over the next day or two. The disturbance remains very weak. Development is not expected.

Disturbance 28 has been recognized along 45W. It is moving west to west-northwest near 15 mph. The system is showing signs of some organized thunderstorm activity and rotation. If conditions ahead of the system were more favorable, Disturbance 28 would have a decent chance to develop. However, environmental conditions ahead of the system remain hostile. Therefore, development chances are near zero.

Disturbance 23 has moved into Mexico. Disturbance 27 is falling apart due to dry, dusty air. We have removed both disturbances from our analysis.
