The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will use rocks to fill in a scour hole that has developed on the river bottom near Greenville Bend at Mile 101.4 Above Head of Passes (AHP). The emergency bank stabilization work is scheduled to begin on the morning of MONDAY, JUNE 26 (0600 hours) and complete on the evening of July 7 (2023). This rock work is designed to provide bank stability in the immediate area of Greenville Bend.

***TRANSIT RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT at 0600 HOURS MONDAY, JUNE 26***

The rock operations will occur during daylight hours (0600 hours to 1800 hours) and the expected transit restrictions are limited to the working daylight hours (0600 to 1800 hours). Upon completion of work each day the rock barge and equipment will tuck in along the right descending bank. 

Transit restrictions for all vessel traffic during working hours will be for one-way traffic managed by the USCG Vessel Traffic Service (VTS).

The deep-draft traffic restrictions detailed below for the rock work at Greenville Bend (Mile 101.4 AHP) are reproduced directly from the attached MSIB noting the restrictions apply from June 26 to July 7 (daily) between 6 a.m. – 6 p.m.:

“Deep draft vessels:
– Southbound: No transit
– Northbound: Panamax ship or smaller drafting less than 33 feet”

No southbound deep-draft (ship) traffic through the area during daylight hours and northbound traffic is limited to Panamax sized vessels with draft of 33 feet or less with one-way transits coordinated through the VTS.
