The Big River Coalition’s USACE 2020 Revetment Schedule and Transit Restrictions Update 102120 is here for your reference.
The Mat Sinking Unit revetment operations at Algiers Point were completed last night, Tuesday, October 20, 2020 and the revetment operations at Point Michel have commenced. At Point Michel the restrictions call for transiting at the slowest safe speed (slow bell) with one-transits implemented from Mile 44.7 Above Head of Passes (AHP) to Mile 42.7 AHP. Please see the attached Marine Safety Information Bulletin (MSIB) for complete details on the restrictions.
Please note that the transit restrictions at both the Plaquemine Bend (early November) and St. Gabriel (January 2021) revetment locations will heavily impact vessel traffic through the immediate area.
The restrictions at both locations are the same:
“No southbound traffic and northbound traffic is limited to 25 feet or less during working hours. The Mat Sinking Unit will fold in at night – no night time transit restrictions are expected.”
The stone placement work at Plaquemine Bend was also delayed by Hurricane Delta but started as scheduled on September 28, 2020 with one-way transits during working hours. Please review the attached and updated MSIB for details on the one-way transits at Plaquemine Bend. The stone berm placement is now scheduled to be completed on Friday, November 6, 2020.
