The Big River Coalition’s Corps 2020 Revetment Schedule and Transit Restrictions Update 93020 is here for your reference.
There are no changes to the schedule, this is a reminder of the revetment work expected to start at Algiers Point on Monday, October 5, 2020.
The first revetment operations on the Mississippi River Ship Channel are scheduled to start at Algiers Point (Mile 93.7 Above Head of Passes) on October 5, 2020. The expected restrictions at Algiers Point are for one-way transits with a slow bell during working hours.
Please note the transit restrictions established around the revetment operations and rock work are tentative and subject to change based upon real time experience of vessels passing the Mat Sinking Unit and actual the related river stages.
Please note that the transit restrictions at both the Plaquemine Bend and St. Gabriel revetment locations will heavily impact vessel traffic through the immediate area.
The restrictions at both locations are the same:
“No southbound traffic and northbound traffic is limited to 25 feet or less during working hours. The Mat Sinking Unit will fold in at night – no night time transit restrictions are expected.”
The stone placement work at Plaquemine Bend is the first bank stabilization work below Baton Rouge in 2020 and started as schedule at the end of September with one-way transits during working hours. Please review MSIB XX-108 for complete details.
