The Corps’ Mississippi Valley New Orleans (MVN) District’s Lock and Waterway Status HURRICANE LAURA Special Notice as issued today (Tuesday, August 25, 2020) is here.

 

For all navigation structures in Southwest Louisiana:

 

“Mariners are advised that on Tuesday and Wednesday, 25 & 26 August 2020, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ will discontinue operating certain structures in Southwest Louisiana due to the potential threat of Hurricane Laura as follows:

 

At 3:00 pm today, 25 August 2020, CALCASIEU RIVER SALTWATER BARRIER will leave the structure unmanned but the gates will remain open.

 

NOTE: Although the gates will be in the open position, if mariners choose to navigate through the structure, they will have to do so at their own risk.

 

At 3:00 pm today, 25 August 2020, the following structures will close their gates and the structure will be unmanned:

 

CATFISH POINT CONTROL STRUCTURE

SCHOONER BAYOU CONTROL STRUCTURE 

FRESHWATER BAYOU LOCK 

CALCASIEU LOCK

 

At 12:00 pm noon on Wednesday, 26 August 2020, LELAND BOWMAN LOCK will close their gates and the structure will be unmanned.”
