The Big River Coalition issued a notice on June 8, 2021 announcing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) revetment schedule for Fiscal Year 2021. There have been significant changes to the schedule since that time and all plans remain tentative at best, the revetment operations have been delayed for multiple reasons. The USACE is expected to release an updated tentative schedule to complete the revetment operations at the remaining revetment site locations. There remain three locations below Baton Rouge (listed below) to be revetted, those operations are now expected to be conducted in February 2022.
The Mat Sinking Unit (MSU) will operate with scheduled working hours for revetment operations from 0600 hours to 1900 hours. Although, completion is dependent upon multiple factors that could mean work for the day is ceased earlier or requires working late, adjustments may also be made to scheduled starting times (if required).
The Big River Coalition will issue an update when the USACE schedule is released but wanted to confirm that there will be no revetment operations on the Mississippi River Ship Channel until early 2022. Barring unforeseen and drastic changes, it is extremely doubtful that there will be revetment operations conducted on the Ship Channel in calendar year 2021.
