USACE New Orleans District reports a reverse head condition exists at the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC) Lock between low water conditions in the Mississippi River and higher water levels in the Canal. This condition has the potential to damage the lock gate equipment.
As a result, the USACE will clear the lock queue tonight and close the IHNC Lock no later than 5:00 a.m. (local) on Tuesday, 04 September, in order to protect the lock gates from damage. The IHNC Lock will remain closed to navigation until the Canal level falls.
