Other Disturbances / Areas to Watch
Disturbance 30 extends from the western Caribbean Sea northeastward across Jamaica, eastern Cuba, and the southern Bahamas. The northern portion of the disturbance is interacting with an upper level low currently north of Cuba. This interaction could result in a chance of some development once the disturbance approaches the Gulf of Mexico next week. The latest model guidance is indicating some development of the disturbance in the northern Gulf for Tuesday into Wednesday. We think there is a 30 percent chance the disturbance could develop into a tropical depression or weak tropical storm by Tuesday into Wednesday of next week. Regardless of development, the system will enhance shower and thunderstorm activity from the western Florida Panhandle into South Texas, depending on the eventual track across the Gulf.
Disturbance 31 is located along 49W and is moving to move to the west near 20 mph. There is a near zero percent chance of tropical development. It will enhance shower and thunderstorm activity across the Lesser Antilles later Sunday into Monday.
