U.S. Customs and Border Protection [CBP], Port of New Orleans has recently noticed an increase in the variety and quantity of items being imported by the New Orleans Mardi Gras community which may be in violation of copyright and trademark laws.

Importation of merchandise contrary to federal trade laws could result in seizure and/or monetary penalties.

To inform and educate, CBP Port of New Orleans will host a summit on September 20, 2023, from 9:00 AM to noon in the New Orleans Customhouse.

Customs Brokers, importers, retailers, and Mardi Gras krewe officials are invited and encouraged to attend.

Agenda topics include the real cost of counterfeiting, intellectual copyrights, seizures, penalties and liquidated damages, Customs cargo processing guidelines, and a question-and-answer session.
