**Update** The salvage operations have been postponed. The operation will begin on February 16, 2023.

1.      The Captain of the Port New Orleans is issuing a safety advisory for the waters of the Lower Mississippi River from Mile Marker (MM) 231.5 to MM 233.0 Above Head of Passes (AHP). This advisory is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with the salvage and removal of a sunken barge occurring on the right descending bank of the River near MM 232.3. The operation will be conducted 24 hours a day, beginning on February 16, 2023 at 0700 until salvage operations are complete.

A.    A one-way traffic scheme is implemented from MM 231.8 to MM 232.8, 24 hours a day throughout the duration of the project.

B.     The M/V Andy McKinney is the primary traffic controller on-scene and can be contacted via VHF Ch. 67 and 87.

C.     Northbound vessels at MM 231.8 and Southbound vessels at MM 232.8 shall contact the M/V Andy McKinney to coordinate passing arrangements prior to entering the affected area.
