The Lower Mississippi River (LMR) is open to all vessel traffic.
The Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) Measure closing the LMR from Mile Marker (MM) 15 Above Head of Passes (AHP) to MM 18 AHP due to a capsized vessel is rescinded.
The location of the sunken vessel is near the right descending bank (RDB) in Boothville Anchorage at MM 17.5 AHP (approximately: 29° 21.049’ N, 089° 25.315’ W).
A buoy is marking the location of the sunken vessel.
Effective immediately, a VTS Measure is in effect with the following provision:
1) Boothville Anchorage is closed to all vessels above MM 15.0 AHP.
2) All vessels shall transit MM 15.0 to 18.3 AHP at minimum safe speed to minimize wake.

The Lower Mississippi River (LMR) is open to all vessel traffic. The Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) Measure closing the LMR from Mile Marker (MM) 15 Above Head of Passes (AHP) to MM 18 AHP due to a capsized vessel is rescinded.

VTS Lower Mississippi River, in accordance with the Navigation Safety Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations Title 33, Subpart 161.11, will establish a VTS Measure for the waters of the Lower Mississippi River from MM 15 AHP to MM 18.3 AHP (Boothville Anchorage). This Measure is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with a sunken vessel near the right descending bank (RDB) in Boothville Anchorage at MM 17.5 AHP (approximately: 29° 21.049’ N, 089° 25.315’ W). A buoy is marking the location of the sunken vessel.

Effective immediately, this Measure is in effect with the following provision:

  1. Boothville Anchorage is closed to all vessels above MM 15.0 AHP.
  2. All vessels shall transit MM 15.0 to 18.3 AHP at minimum safe speed to minimize wake.

Updates and/or changes will be broadcast via Safety Broadcast Notice to Mariners and/or industry-wide email distribution.
