The US Army Corps of Engineers is rebuilding the South Pass Jetties, both east and west. Construction is scheduled for completion in March 2024. This project will raise the jetties such that both are visible above the waterline. The U.S. Coast Guard is proposing changes to the Aids to Navigation in South Pass to include relocating one aid and discontinuing eight aids. These aids were previously added by the Coast Guard to alert mariners to the presence of the jetties and shoaling not visible above the waterline.
