Florence
Florence is a weak tropical depression over northeastern Tennessee and southwestern Virginia. It is moving northward near 15 mph. Florence continues to bring heavy rain to parts of North Carolina. Areas that experience rainbands could see another 4 to 6 inches of rainfall, which could lead to additional flash flooding. Lesser amounts of 2 to 4 inches are likely in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia and western Maryland. Please see our latest advisory for more information.
Joyce
Joyce is a tropical depression with 35 mph winds about 275 miles south of the Azores. Joyce is currently moving to the east. It is forecast to turn to the south and then to the southwest. As it makes this turn, it is forecast to weaken to a remnant low. There is no threat to land. Please see our latest advisory for more information.
Other Disturbances / Areas to Watch
The remnants of Isaac are located near Jamaica. There are no signs of organization. Environmental conditions are marginal for redevelopment. In addition, there is little indication of development in the computer models. There is only a 10 percent chance of redevelopment. The most likely scenario is that the remnants of Isaac will move toward the western Gulf of Mexico as a remnant wave and bring increased squalls late this week.
Disturbance 40 has formed along 65.5W, a few hundred miles north of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. This disturbance is expected to move to the northwest and then turn to the north, passing east of the United States East Coast. The disturbance is being affected by wind shear. There is only a 10 percent chance of tropical development.
Disturbance 39 is a wave void of any squalls along 46W. It is moving to the west at 25 mph. No tropical development is expected.
