Florence
Hurricane Florence is located about 585 miles to the east-southeast of Cape Fear, North Carolina and is moving to the northwest at 18 mph. Maximum winds are near 140 mph. Florence will approach the coast of the Carolinas Thursday and Friday and slow down in its forward speed. This will result in a catastrophic wind and tidal surge event for the North Carolina coast and a catastrophic inland flood event for portions of North Carolina and South Carolina later this week into this weekend. Helene
Hurricane Helene is located about 1400 miles to the south-southwest of the Azores and moving to the north-northwest at 13 mph. Maximum winds have decreased to near 90 mph. Helene is forecast to move northward across the eastern Atlantic and pass just to the northwest of the Azores this weekend as a tropical storm. Isaac
Tropical Storm Isaac is centered about 455 miles to the east of Martinique and is moving to the west at 17 mph. Maximum winds are near 60 mph. Isaac will continue to weaken as it approaches the Lesser Antilles. It will move across the Lesser Antilles on Thursday and produce tropical storm conditions along with heavy rainfall. Afterward, it will pass well south of Puerto Rico on Friday morning before dissipating across the central Caribbean this weekend. Disturbance 37 is centered over the south-central Gulf of Mexico about 545 miles to the east-southeast of Corpus Christi, Texas. It is forecast to move to the northwest towards the lower or middle Texas coast through Friday. It is expected to make landfall as a tropical storm near Corpus Christi Friday afternoon. It will produce heavy squalls across portions of the northwestern Gulf on Thursday into Friday. It is forecast to produce heavy showers and thunderstorms along with strong winds across coastal areas of Texas later Thursday into Friday. Other Disturbances / Areas to Watch
Disturbance 38 is an area of non-tropical low pressure located several hundred miles to the west of the Azores. It is producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms along with gale force winds. Some gradual subtropical or tropical development is possible with the system the next few days as it moves to the southwest. The chance of tropical development is estimated at near 60 percent. The system is forecast to meander out to the west of the Azores through this weekend and not affect any land areas.

Disturbance 39 is located east of the Cape Verde Islands along 19W. There is a 10 percent chance of tropical development over the next seven days. It will enhance showers and thunderstorms across the Cape Verde Islands later this week.
