Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) Lower Mississippi River, in accordance with the Navigation Safety Regulations, Code of Federal Regulations Title 33, Subpart 161.11, will establish a VTS measure for all waters of the Lower Mississippi River from Mile Marker (MM) 121.5 to MM 123.0 Above Head of Passes (AHP). These measures are needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with the salvage of the ITV PATRICK J. STUDDERT and are in effect with the following provisions:

  • Saturday, January 4th, 2025, from 6:30 a.m. to Sunday, January 5th, 2025 at 6:30 pm, local time: All vessels are prohibited from transiting between 121.5 to MM 123.0.

VTS Lower Mississippi River will manage the vessel traffic queue when the channel re-opens. VTS LMR queue management can be contacted via VHF-FM channel 12 or at (504) 365-2512.

 

Updates and/or changes will be broadcast via Broadcast Notice to Mariners and/or industry-wide email.
