1. The Captain of the Port New Orleans is issuing a safety advisory for the waters of the Atchafalaya River at Mile Marker (MM) 50.3. This advisory is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ subaqueous stone placement operations being conducted at MM 50.3 on the left descending bank. Beginning June 21, 2024, operations will take place 7 days a week, approximately 7:00am – 5:30pm until further notice.

A. Mariners are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made with M/V JAMES CHRISTOPHER via VHF Ch. 13, 16, or 72.
