- The Captain of the Port New Orleans is issuing a safety advisory for the waters of the Atchafalaya River at Mile Marker (MM) 29.6. Due to a mechanical failure, mariners are advised that the Melville Vertical Lift Bridge will require manual opening. The estimated time required for repairs is not known at this time.
- Mariners transiting the area should contact the Melville Vertical Lift Bridge via landline at (337) 623-5845 or VHF CH. 13 to arrange for a bridge opening at least three hours in advance.
