Algiers Canal Closure – GIWW MM 2.7
Power Transmission Line Reconstitution – Update 2
On April 27, 2024, and April 28, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, Algiers Canal will be closed to all marine vessel traffic between MM 2.3 and MM 3.0 to allow Entergy to reconstitute a new transmission line at MM 2.7. Vessels intending to transit through the Algiers Lock shall check in with the Lock Master on VHF FM Ch. 14 or at 504-354-1861 for lock assignment and staging prior to closure times. During the closure, Algiers Lock will remain in operation to clear the queue staged between MM 2.3 and the lock.
Vessels are reminded Harvey Lock is operational, pending tow size limitations. The list of restrictions can be found on the New Orleans District US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) website at https://www.mvn.usace.army.mil/LockStatus/
Updates and/or changes to the published schedule will be broadcast via Broadcast Notice to Mariners and/or industry wide email.
