  1. The Captain of the Port New Orleans is issuing a safety advisory for the waters of the Lower Mississippi River at Mile Marker (MM) 249 Above Head of Passes (AHP). This advisory is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ subaqueous stone placement operations being conducted at MM 249 on the right descending bank. The Lower Mississippi River is closed to southbound traffic from 7:00am – 5:00pm daily through February 12, 2024.
    1. Mariners navigating upriver are urged to transit at their slowest safe speed to minimize wake and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made with M/V KACIE LUHR or M/V MEGAN DAWN via VHF Ch. 13, 16, 67, or 72.
    2. All southbound traffic shall contact the M/V KACIE LUHR via VHF Ch. 13, 16, 67, or 72 who will manage the daily queue. Alternatively, vessels may contact 573-803-7935.
