UPDATE 08AUG23 **Update** The time necessary to complete all rail repairs has been extended. Rail work will be conducted on the railroad side of the US-190 (Upper Baton Rouge) Bridge near LMR MM 234 AHP August 15th – 19thbetween 8:00am and 4:00pm.
1. The Captain of the Port New Orleans is issuing a safety advisory for the waters of the Lower Mississippi River near Mile Marker 234 Above Head of Passes (AHP). This advisory is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with construction operations being conducted on the US-190 (Upper Baton Rouge) Bridge.
2. Mariners are advised to transit the area under the US-190 (Upper Baton Rouge) Bridge near LMR MM 234 AHP with caution August 3rd – 4th and 7th-8th between 8:00am and 4:00pm. Work is being conducted on the railroad section of the bridge. Rail workers will cease repair operations when vessel traffic transits underneath the bridge however, there may be potential for debris to fall into the water.
