The Captain of the Port New Orleans is issuing a safety advisory for the waters of the Atchafalaya River near Mile Marker 42.4, ALON USA. This advisory is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with the installation of riprap for the stabilization of Dock 3 on the right descending bank. Operations will be conducted 7 days a week, 6 AM to 6 PM, from July 10, 2023 – November 30, 2023.Operations may at times extend into the channel which could cause delays.
Mariners are advised to transit at slowest safe speed to minimize wake whenever operating in the vicinity of ALON USA near MM 42.4. For on scene information, mariners may contact Austin Leger at (985) 360-6801 or via VHF CH. 10.
