The Captain of the Port New Orleans is issuing a Safety Advisory for the waters of the Port Allen Channel, Mile Marker 61 through Mile Marker 62. This advisory is needed to protect persons and vessels from potential safety hazards associated with McDonough Marine Services cargo roll-off operations. The M/V BERNARD P will conduct heavy equipment cargo operations for 10 hours from 7:00 A.M. Friday, December 17, 2021 through 5:00 P.M. Friday, December 17, 2021.
This advisory is in effect from 7:00 A.M. on December 17, 2021 until 5:00 P.M. on December 17, 2021, with the following provisions:
- All mariners are advised to transit at slowest safe speed to minimize wake when transiting in the vicinity of cargo roll-off operations.
- Vessels will not be able to transit through Port Allen Channel Mile Marker 61 through Mile Marker 62. Mariners are advised to use alternate routes until cargo operations in the Port Allen Channel are complete.
Updates and/or changes will be disseminated via VTS email distribution and/or via Safety Broadcast Notice to Mariners.
