Setting of Port Condition YANKEE
Effective at 1200 noon local time on August 26, 2020, in response to the predicted track of Hurricane LAURA, the Captain of the Port (COTP), Sector New Orleans will set Port Condition YANKEE in accordance with the Maritime Hurricane Contingency Port Plan (MHCPP) found at https://homeport.uscg.mil/port-directory/new-orleans.
Port Status: Vessel traffic control measures in effect.
Vessel movement is authorized within the COTP New Orleans Zone, as described in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 3.40-15 as follows:
• On the Lower Mississippi River from Mile Marker (MM) 20 Below Head of Passes to MM 303 Above Head of Passes
• On the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) from MM 44.2 East of Harvey Locks (EHL) to MM 20 West of Harvey Locks (WHL), with the exception of Regulated Navigation Area (RNA) East (as noted below)
RNA Status:
• RNA West, which includes the Harvey Canal from the LaPalco Bridge south to the confluence of the Harvey and Algiers Canals and the Algiers Canal from the Algiers Lock south to the confluence of the Harvey and Algiers Canal, is open. • RNA East, which includes the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) from Mile Marker (MM) 22 East of Harvey Locks (EHL), west on the GIWW, including the Michoud Canal and the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC), extending north ½ mile from the Seabrook Flood Gate Complex out into Lake Pontchartrain and south to the IHNC Lock remains closed. The Lake Borgne Surge Barrier and Seabrook Complex remain closed.
