SAFETY ADVISORY: VESSEL MOVEMENTS DURING HIGH WATER
All vessel movements, especially those performed during high water, must be coordinated efforts to maximize safety on the Lower Mississippi River.
The Captain of the Port New Orleans expects vessels, facilities, and vessel agents planning a vessel movement of any sort (including shifting docks or repositioning within an anchorage) to consult with the appropriate pilot associations to determine whether a pilot and/or tugs are necessary for the intended vessel movement.
