Dear Customers and Vendors,

It has been Marathon’s goal over the years to provide a safe work environment and facilities to not only our employees, but visitors and service vendors alike. Aside from Marathon’s own internal dock safety PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements for employees and contracted vendors, Marathon at a minimum requires all personnel entering and transiting our marine facilities and docks to possess and wear:

  1. ANSI Z87.1-2010 Certified Safety Glasses
  2. ANSI Z89.1-2009 Certified Hard Hat
  3. Closed Toe Shoes (No Sandals)
  4. Long Pants (No Shorts)
  5. Short or Long-Sleeved Shirt
  6. Standard Life Vest or Personal Flotation Device (PFD)

Please be advised that effective April 01st 2016 any visitors, vendors, surveyors, vessel/ship crew who do not possess and wear above mentioned PPE will not be permitted access to Marathon’s facilities. In addition, all visitors will be required to produce, possess and present required PPE to Marathon’s security staff at Gate No.6 security office and will be considered part of Marathon’s mandatory security protocol. If proper and required PPE cannot be presented for any reason then access to Marathon’s facilities will be denied and without any exception or further considerations.

We suggest and urge proper distribution of this notice within your organization, to your customers, your vessel vendors, sub-contractors, employees, etc. in order to avoid any possible delays or refusal of access to Marathon’s dock facilities.

Vessel agents to please take exception for proper notification to your vessel’s crew and vessel vendors as to provide ample required PPE gear during vessel crew changes. The same safety requirements applies to vessel’s crew when conducting crew changes or crew movements across Marathon’s dock facilities.

The Marathon Petroleum Garyville team values our customers and vendor relationships, and we look forward to our continued working relationships, working in partnership for the future with an emphasis on safety, security, and environment.

Sincerely,

Bill Ollar
