Recent aircraft data indicate that Gordon has not intensified further. Winds remain 60 mph. Our forecast continues to be for Gordon to make landfall tonight along the coast of Mississippi as a strong tropical storm with winds of 70 mph. There remains a chance that Gordon could become a hurricane before landfall.
Gordon is moving a little to the west of our previous forecast track as per the latest aircraft data. This is likely temporary. We expect Gordon to revert to a west-northwest to northwesterly track, taking the system into Mississippi tonight.
The next full advisory will be issued at 3 AM CDT.
