SUBJECT: Weekly FTZ entry processing and procedures

BACKGROUND: The Trade and Development Act of 2000, Pub. L. 106-200 amended Customs entry statute 19 USC 1484 to extend the usage of weekly consumption entries to include all Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ), rather than limiting these entries to only manufacturing operations. As a result, this Southern Current and its attachment is being issued to establish uniform processes and procedures to be utilized by all FTZ’s operating under the weekly entry process.

ACTION: Foreign Trade Zone operators, brokers and other interested parties should read and become familiar with the attached weekly foreign trade zone entry procedures prior to implementation. FTZ operators should update their procedures manuals to reflect these changes.
