The fog continues to keep Algiers Point closed to navigation.
The pilot groups have discussed the situation and pass along the following:
  • There are approximately 68 vessels trying to enter the LMR @ SWP.
  • There are approximately 45 vessels ready to sail.
  • It is not anticipated that the fog will clear today.
  • If the fog clears tomorrow, the following action is planned:
    • 2 to 3 container ships will be brought N/B; then,
    • Approximately 20 vessels will be cleared Southbound by staggering ships from:
      • Baton Rouge
      • Magnolia Anchorage
      • Davant Anchorage
      • Lagrange Anchorage
      • Boothville Anchorage, then,
    • Approximately 20 vessels will be crossed-in at SWP.
Again, all of this is weather permitting.
The USACE will continue working the revetment operations until Noon, Friday, January 4th.

They will not work after that until Monday, January 7 commencing at 0600.
