SUBJECT: Extended Blanket Delay in Departure Due to Daily LMR Closures – Fog and Revetment Operations
Blanket Delay in Departure:
The CBP Area Port Director has extended a blanket Delay in Departure for those vessels unable to depart the lower Mississippi River because of daily U.S. Coast Guard River Closures due to fog and ongoing U.S. Army Corps of Engineers revetment operations at Mile Markers 80 – 83.
· Closed 9:15 PM, 29 Dec 2018 – Re-opened 2:37 PM, 30 Dec 2018.
· Closed 3:13 PM, 30 Dec 2018 – Re-opened 5:07 AM, 31 Dec 2018.
· Closed 12:30 AM, 01 Jan 2019 – Re-opened 6:36 AM, 01 Jan 2018.
· Closed 01:30 AM, 02 Jan 2019 – Remains Closed
This blanket Delay in Departure grants an additional 48 hours for vessels to depart port after 11:59 PM on Wednesday January 2, 2019.
All vessels currently held in port due to river closures have until Friday January 4, 2019 at 11:59 PM to depart without having to surrender and cancel previously granted clearances.
There is no requirement to have a Vessel Entrance and Clearance Specialist (VECS) stamp/annotate a vessel’s clearance “Delay in Departure” when a blanket Delay in Departure is authorized.
A delay in departure does not provide additional time for filing complete outbound manifests and export declarations.
