Other Disturbances / Areas to Watch
Disturbance 57 is becoming better organized a few hundred miles east of the Leeward Islands. The disturbance is expected to pass near the Leeward Islands in about 24 hours. Heavy rains will be possible. As the system moves to the north of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, it will have the potential to develop into a tropical or a subtropical cyclone. There is an 80 percent chance of development. If development were to occur, we do not expect that the system will be stronger than a depression or a weak tropical or subtropical storm. Regardless of development, this system is likely to bring gusty winds and heavy rains to the southeast Bahamas late Wednesday and Thursday.
