Joyce is a tropical depression located about 375 miles south of the Azores. It is moving to the south-southeast at 6 mph. It is forecast to turn to the west-southwest within the next 24 hours. There is no threat to land. Winds are 35 mph. Joyce is forecast to become a remnant low within the next 48 hours. Please see our latest advisory for more information.

Other Disturbances / Areas to Watch
The remnants of Isaac are moving to the west-northwest in the northwest Caribbean. There are no signs of organization. There is a near zero percent chance of redevelopment. However, there may be enhanced storminess in the western Gulf of Mexico late this week and this weekend.

Disturbance 40 is a nontropical area of low pressure about 330 miles SSW of Bermuda.This system is moving to the north-northwest at about 7 mph. The disturbance should remain east of the United States East Coast. Environmental conditions are not favorable for development. There is only a 5 percent chance of tropical development.

Disturbance 39 is about 300 miles east of the Leeward Islands. It is moving to the west near 25 mph. It will bring enhanced rain to the Lesser Antilles later today. However, tropical development is not expected.

A nontropical low is expected to form west of the Azores over the weekend. There is a 30 percent chance that this area will become a tropical or a subtropical cyclone within the next 7 days. Any system that forms is expected to meander to the west of the Azores.
